## _About the Unit_
## _**Job Information**_
**Job Summary:**
The Mansueto Institute is seeking a Resident Fellow. Resident Fellowships****are a 12-month, full-time position located at the University of Chicago. Applicants who hold other appointments or positions are expected to take a leave of absence from those obligations while in residence with the Mansueto Institute, and are expected to spend time on campus, playing an active role within both the UChicago community and the Mansueto Institute.
**Fellowship Benefits and Expectations:**
During their fellowship year, Mansueto Fellows will enjoy:
* the freedom topursue their own research and projects.
* the support of the Institute's staff.
* a dedicated workspace on the UChicago campus.
* access to the University's world-class faculty, students, and facilities.
**Job Responsibilities:**
In return, we expect that Fellows will engage with faculty, students, and the larger UChicago community in the following ways:
* Giving two public talks, lectures, or performances in the course of the academic year, timing and content to be co-determined with Mansueto leadership.
* Delivering quarterly write-ups, in a format jointly determined by the Fellow and Mansueto leadership. These can be blog posts, op-eds, research publications, white papers, or other types of outputs, in accordance with the Fellow's desire and experience.
* Holding weekly/Bi-weekly "office hours" for UChicago students and faculty, so that the larger community can engage with Fellows on a regular and ongoing basis.
* Organizing and hosting a convening of their choosing, with support from Mansueto Staff. See below under 'Mansueto Roundtables.'
In addition, we want our Fellows to take advantage of our unique location. The Mansueto Institute is located on the University of Chicago campus, which is an anchor institution on the south side of Chicago. As a research institute committed to developing knowledge of fundamental urban processes, we expect that our Fellows will engage with the university's neighboring institutions and communities, as well as with the city of Chicago at large.
**Mansueto Roundtables:**
Each Fellow will be allotted a convening budget of $5000 for the organizing of a workshop, roundtable, or other collaborative convening during the academic year. The format of the convening will be of the Fellow's own design, on the subject matter of their choice, in consultation with Mansueto faculty and staff directors. The Mansueto Institute staff will provide administrative assistance for these convenings, enabling Fellows to focus on content, participants, and outcomes.
Mansueto Roundtables will help the Mansueto to develop a network of urban thinkers and actors, to create and disseminate new ideas about the fundamental processes that drive and sustain cities.
