## _**Job Information**_
**Job Summary:**
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Associate Director of Programs and Initiatives is responsible for the Summer Conference program, the execution of signature high-profile events, support of the Resident Dean program, and all departmental special initiatives. As a member of the Housing & Residence Life senior management team, the Sr. Associate Director participates in setting and executing strategic planning, priorities, and resource allocation.
Overseeing the Assistant Director of Summer Conferences, the Sr. Associate Director will support the continued growth of the conference program while playing a key role in developing and implementing policy, program planning, and business protocols. The Senior Associate Director is responsible for fostering and overseeing strong relationships with key campus partner offices, such as, UChicago Dining, Office of Event Services, International House, and the College. The Senior Associate Director also serves as the primary liaison for Alumni Relations and Development with regards to signature House events, alumni weekend, and donor relations.
The Senior Associate Director works closely with the Executive Director to provide administrative oversight, planning, creation and implementation of signature events for the Resident Dean and Residence Life initiatives. The Resident Dean program is continuing to grow in scope and volume and the Senior Associate Director directly oversees two program managers who provide administrative coordination and support for the RD program. In addition to the RD programs, the Senior Associate Director will take a leadership role in developing support strategies and in generating new and creative events and initiatives for the College and Housing & Residence Life.
**Responsibilities: **
**Supervision of Professional Staff**
* Directly responsible for the supervision and performance of the Assistant Director of Summer Conferences, and Program Managers (2)
* Indirectly responsible for the performance of Summer Conference interns (10-12)
* Supervise and lead staff by developing events and initiatives that meet staff professional and technical training needs, provides coaching and guidance, conducts or oversees the annual performance appraisal process, and proactively addresses performance issues as required.
**Management of Summer Conference Program**
* Assist in the day to day management of the Summer Conference program
* Indirectly responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of the Summer Conference interns (10-12)
* Coordinate summer conference program logistics with University departments including dining, catering, registrars' office and campus safety
* Oversee summer conference staff training for summer interns and front desk clerk staff
* Serve as a main liaison for summer conference clients throughout their stay on campus
* Serve in the on-call duty rotation during summer conference season
**Management of Departmental Signature Events and Initiatives**
* Develop and support signature events and initiatives (i.e. banquets, receptions, lectures and trainings) that support the goals and mission of the Resident Dean program
* Coordinate programmatic support with key campus partners to ensure signature events and initiatives meet and exceed University goals
* Oversee the reconciliation of the Resident Dean and Resident Head programming fund expenditures. Provide oversight for highest and best use of funds, vendor selection and program development to maximize usage of funds and resources

## _Additional Requirements_
**Education, Experience or Certifications:**
**Education**:
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required
* Master's degree in a relevant field preferred
** Experience:**
* Experience with summer conferences, housing and residential life programs preferred
* At least five years of experience supervising staff in a service delivery environment required
* Significant customer service and vendor relations experience required
**Licenses and Certifications:**
* Certified Meeting Planning preferred
**Technical Knowledge or Skills:**
* Proficiency in standard office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, email, etc.) required; knowledge and experience with StarRez a plus
**Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:**
* The standard work week is Monday through Friday with expectations for evening and weekend work typical of a senior student affairs leader responsible for housing operations
* Senior Associate Director of Programs and Initiatives is expected to be available for consultation after-hours, weekends and holidays; and available on-campus for emergency, as needed
