**Job overview and responsibilities**


The primary responsibility for this position is to capture real TCO savings in the aircraft engine and component repair/overhaul services category, either through direct savings captured from aggregating sourcing volumes or savings captured from other TCO cost reduction initiatives, while ensuring that our customer needs are met. This position seeks year-over-year improvements in total cost of ownership, quality and service by working closely with the Technical Operations division and engine and component suppliers. Individual will also lead other Procurement managers in achieving cost-savings goals through contract negotiations and support.


The Sr. Manager's primary responsibility is to manage project-driven sourcing activities for a team consisting of a variety of engines and component categories that are characterized by high decision-making complexity and/or high organizational influence.


This position will be responsible for category spend in excess of $500M in annually.


Strategy:


+ Implement the sourcing strategies for assigned work group, including analysis of current and future needs, and analysis of opportunities to leverage changes in processes and systems

+ Ensure the effective delivery of initiatives, programs and directives in accordance with United's sourcing strategy and financial plans

+ Assist in the selection and management of suppliers by establishing processes, standards and performance metrics

+ Is directly responsible for a subset of categories, including developing the sourcing strategy, identifying suppliers, and measuring and tracking performance against financial plans


Operations:


+ Ensure compliance with policies and programs in alignment with United's sourcing strategy

+ Drive the analysis of and review data, including budget/financial and performance metrics to support decisions related to programs, initiatives and directives including the initiation of RFPs to outsource engine overhaul and repair services

+ Manage business relationships with key suppliers including routine enhancements to agreements, communication of demand/volume changes, updating contracts and sharing end-user feedback

+ Provide operational support by procuring emergency lease engines and APUs as Technical Operations demands require

+ Research, understand and stay current on best practices, trends, legislative issues and market competitiveness information

+ Develop and deliver presentations to executives and others, as required on strategies, programs, practices and issues

+ Interact with Technical Ops, Engineering, Vendor Mgmnt, Fleet, Legal, and Finance

+ Minimum three (3) to five (5) years experience with combination of negotiation, analytics, strategy, planning and/or managing supply chain/sourcing activities, or equivalent

+ Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

+ Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


**Preferred**


+ MBA or related Graduate Degree

+ CPM or CPSM

+ Collaboration skills with peers in Strategic Sourcing function and with business partner leadership

+ Strong communication skills, and the ability to be a persuasive advocate for transformational change

+ High energy, with an emphasis on rapid change, and management courage to act persuasively and with conviction

+ Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources

+ Comprehensive knowledge of strategic sourcing practices

+ Knowledge of the Strategic Sourcing process

+ Knowledge of assigned categories
